History of the Directory

Over 25 years ago, right here in Dorset, a local businessman noticed something: people were constantly asking him if he knew a “good, honest tradesperson” they could actually trust.

He realised he could do more than just pass on a phone number. He saw a chance to champion local Christians in business while giving back to charities the community holds dear.

What started as a simple idea has resulted in over 7,000 directories distributed across Dorset and Hampshire, helping thousands of Christian tradespeople grow their businesses and find their perfect customers.

What is the Directory

The Christian Business Directory is an A5 booklet where local Traders/Businesses can advertise their business.

The directory is free and is delivered in Dorset/Hampshire in January.

Where can I find a copy of the Directory?

To get a copy of the directory, you can either contact us, or find one at one of our partner churches, a list of which can be found here.

It is also available in the Keith Jones Christian Bookshop.

Why have a Directory

• Local Christian traders/businesses pay to advertise in the directory, most of the advertisers advertise year after year as the advertising cost is kept as low as possible and they find it generates business.
• People are able to use the directory to find a reputable worker/business -all the advertisers are asked to sign a statement of faith and obtain a church reference (also to confirm a relevant qualification if necessary).
• The Christian Business Directory also supports Christian Charities, Alpha India & Teen Challenge run by local Christians. Information on these charities can be found on this website or in the book.
